A private tour to Mostar and Međugorje created especially for you with possibilities to change the itinerary according to your desires. The tour takes you through the hinterland of Dalmatia and into Herzegovina, all the way to Mostar, the beautiful town on the river Neretva, where west and east meet through the 16th century bridge from which the town gets its name. Then visit the most prominent pilgrimage place in the region, Medjugorje.
Your personal driver will pick you up at an appointed place at 8 am. Afterwards we will drive through Dalmatian hinterlands and Herzegovina. At about 10 am we arrive in Mostar. There, a local guide awaits you, and the walking tour of the city will start.
Cities are like people, and have their own personalities. They can be anythings from passionate to melancholic. Mostar is a city that immediately draws you in with its oriental charm and rich life. Founded in the 15th century, it has a long and varied history. Visit the old Bazaar, the Mosque and the aforementioned old bridge from where you can watch professional jumpers dive into the cold water of the Neretva river. Also don’t miss the chance to taste some of the traditional local foods such as ”burek” or ”baklava”.
Afterwards, you have some leisure time to do what you prefer in this beautiful city. When you feel you have seen enough of Mostar, the tour will continue towards Medjugorje. During the the half hour drive there, the guide will tell you all you need to know about Medjugorje. Then we will take a walking tour through this sacred place.
If you have been in the vicinity of the sacred you retain it more in your body than in your head; and if you haven’t, no description of the experience will ever be satisfactory. Medjuegorje is one such place, with a strong sense of the sacred.
The church, the backbone of the religious complex, was built on the place where the Virgin Mary appeared in 1981. It has since become one of the most famous and frequented religious destinations in the world, with over twenty million visitors since 1981. Relax in this spiritual place and enjoy the walk toward Apparition Hill.
We can arrange a lunch for you in one of the local restaurants, where you can once again taste some of the traditional local foods, so dense and rich in taste – čevapćići, baklave, burek…
We will return to Split at about 6 pm.
